APPLICANT NAME:

Nicholas Duffy

CHILDREN PLAYING IN RWAHA?

Squirts

WHY DO YOU WISH TO BECOME A BOARD MEMBER?

I believe I have something to offer to RWAHA. I hope to continue to build the association to support hockey-loving youth and families. I see opportunities for increased organization with the board structure, as well improved communication with the members that I think will help the organization thrive. I want to ensure other families know how to get involved - what opportunities exist and how to connect with them.

BRIEFLY DESCRIBE YOUR HOCKEY BACKGROUND:

I am a parent of a youth hockey player, and before that, a college hockey fan.

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU WOULD DO TO IMPROVE RWAHA?

One thing that I think could be incredibly valuable is to get our gambling license, a process which was initiated but unfortunately not followed through on in recent years. The income that this could generate could lower family cost and build for the future - additional training space, the dreams of a second sheet of ice.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS OR SPECIAL SKILLS DO YOU HAVE THAT YOU FEEL WOULD BENEFIT THE ASSOCIATION?

I am a leader who is organized, an effective problem solver, and wants to get things done. I am able to think outside the box, ask questions, and listen for perspectives and experiences that I don't have. I also think that as a Zumbrota-Mazeppa member, I'd be have an opportunity to think more broadly about our partnerships and outreach.

DESCRIBE YOUR PREVIOUS VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE:

Currently, I serve as the Treasurer for my workplace union. I have previously coached t-ball and helped with summer 3 on 3 hockey.
